This was just a period of my life when I decided to focus on the "present moment" and give my full attention to it, with no definite destination or goal. At that moment this collection was born. On a walk by the shore, where nothing but my senses were showing me the way... That’s how I came across the riddle of *Posidonia. It provoked my curiosity so I started to collect it, in order to process it and experiment with it. It was both challenging and interesting to discover what kind of material it was. I let Posidonia show me its potential and it keeps surprising me. Having looked into the important role this sea grass plays in the ecosystem, while having an open dialogue with Posidon, I felt how precious this material was and how lucky I was to have found it on my way. Old fashioned laces, colours made of gold and pieces of wood were amalgamated in this collection and this is the outcome.

 

* Posidonia oceanica (commonly known as Neptune Grass or Mediterranean tapeweed) is a sea grass species that is endemic to the Mediterranean Sea. It forms large underwater meadows that are an important part of the ecosystem. The fruit is free-floating and best known as 'the olive of the sea' (l'oliva di mare) in Italy. Balls of fibrous material from its foliage, known as egagropili, are being washed up in nearby shorelines.

 

人生におけるちょっとした時、はっきりした行き先やゴールを決めずに、全ての意識を集中して“その瞬間”に焦点を当てて見ることにしました。その時にこのコレクションは生まれました。

ぼんやりと思うままに浜辺で歩いていたら、私はPosidoniaの謎に出会いました。それは私の好奇心を刺激したので実験の為に収集することにしました。それがどのような素材であるかを探求するのは挑戦的であり、また興味深いものでした。

私はPosidoniaの潜在力を知れば知るほど驚かされました。そしてこの海藻が自然環境の中で果たす役割を知れば知るほどこの貴い素材と出会った幸運を感じるのです。

今回のコレクションは古風なレースと金から生み出される色彩を融合させたものとなっています。

 

*ポシドニア・オセアニカは地中海に生息している海藻である（一般的にネプチューングラス、あるいはメディテラニアン・テープウィドとして知られている）。これらは生態系の重要な一部となる大規模な水中草地を形成している。果実は浮遊することからイタリアでは「海のオリーブ」と言われている。 その葉から形成された繊維材料のボールはエガロピリ（まりも）として知られ、海岸近くに打ち上げられる。
